Louise is going back to work in a few days and doesn’t know if she should start expressing her milk or start formula feeding.
“I am headed back to work next week after maternity leave. I have been breast feeding my baby since birth but now that I am going back to work I am uncertain if I should continue. I have had friends tell me that formula feeding at this point would be much easier on me. Although I realize this might be true, I just can’t help but wonder if I should start expressing my milk during the day while I am at work. If I do decide to express my milk at work I don’t know how or where I would store it. I know I can use the first aid room when I want to express milk but I’m just not sure if it’s worth the extra effort. I am also hesitant to use formula because everything I have read tells me that my breast milk is the best thing to feed my baby and formula only comes close to providing all the nutrients my baby needs. I know I can use either a hand or electric pump but I’m not sure which to get. I imagine the electric pump would be easier but it is so much more expensive. A hand pump would be less costly, but I wondering would it be as efficient as an electric one. As you can see I really am at a loss here on what to do. If I knew what other mums have chosen and why, it really would be helpful. Any suggestions on which brand of pumps work best would also be appreciated. It all seems just so inconvenient”
