Swelling during pregnancy

Swelling during pregnancyAlison has recently experienced swelling in her legs and feet, as well as, her hands & fingers. She feels terribly uncomfortable and seeking some help on finding relief.

“Out of the blue last week I really started to feel bloated. I first noticed swelling in my feet when I attempted to put on my favorite shoes. It seemed the more I struggled to get my feet into these shoes, the more emotional I became. I ended up sitting on my bed, taking a deep breath and finally after what seemed like forever, I calmed down and squeezed my feet in. They were little snug, but they were still wearable! At about the same time I noticed I’ve got sausage fingers and I have been struggling to take off my wedding ring.  It took a lot of twisting and turning but thank goodness it’s finally off. I am so upset that this swelling is happening already, besides being so emotional I feel so uncomfortable. What I would like to know is… am I really going to have to buy new shoes for this pregnancy? Does this swelling last the entire pregnancy and if it does, am I going to feel like a beached whale by the ninth month?” If I am having a difficult time now, how am I ever going to make it through the next 4 months?”

Does Alison’s discomfort with swelling sound familiar to you?  If you have experienced swelling during your pregnancy, could you please share your experience with us. By sharing your experiences with us we can all help Alison and other mums with suggestions on how to cope with their swelling and some advice on what they can do to make themselves more comfortable. And…hopefully, solve Alison’s shoe dilemma as well. Thanks, Shona xx50points reward
