Sophia is 40 weeks pregnant and more than ready to meet
her baby to be – who seems in no rush to move. She’s looking for some
suggestions as to how to bring on labour naturally.
“I am so sick of being pregnant! It’s not that it’s been a bad pregnancy, things have for the most part gone really smoothly but the last few weeks are just dragging on forever. I’m huge - I can’t get comfortable no matter what position I lie in and how many pillows I stuff around me. I get no sleep because I’m constantly getting up to go to the loo at night, my ankles are huge and the baby is pushing up on my lungs and making it hard to breathe.
Everything is prepared, the baby clothes are washed, cot is made up, nappies have been bought but the baby is still not out! I feel really strange and restless, I just want to meet my baby now and get on with the next phase of our lives. According to the midwife the baby’s head is engaged and all ready to go so it could happen any day now, but I’m so impatient!
People have suggested all sorts of weird and wonderful ways to bring on labour including hot curries, nipple tweaking and even sex. I’ve tried them all and so far nothing has worked! I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions to help get things moving. How can I induce labour in a safe and natural way? I know the baby has to come out eventually but the more days drag by the more desperate I get!”
Have you done anything to try and induce labour? No
matter how unusual or strange, we would love to hear about it. Please share your thoughts and help
Sophia speed up the process of meeting her baby. By answering a few questions
you can help other mums who might be at the end of their pregnancies and desperate
to get that baby out! Thanks, Shona x
