Pauline is 32 weeks pregnant and is becoming stressed out in the last trimester of her pregnancy. She needs to relax and is looking for relaxation techniques and suggestions that will help her cope with her anxiety until she has her baby.
“I am nearing the ending of my pregnancy and lately I’ve begun to worry about everything. My heart starts to race just thinking about going into labour. My concerns aren’t about one specific thing, it seems just about any little thing lately is stressing me out… from getting to the hospital on time, to delivering my baby, to having the confidence in being able to feed and care for my baby once we come home…. My husband says I’m just being silly and not to worry so much….easy for him to say, he’s not the one who is having this baby!
I know this anxious feeling can’t be good for me or my baby, but at times I just feel so overwhelmed. With my part time job, taking care of my house, being so tired, and getting ready for the baby, most days I am on overload. Someone at the office told me I should try yoga, which I would love to do. Unfortunately, I am not a contortionist and no longer have the ability (or the desire) at this size to attempt any of the yoga positions, so that is definitely out. I could really use some suggestions on different ways I can relax. It would be great to hear what relaxation techniques during pregnancy worked for other mums. I probably should have used some relaxation techniques throughout my pregnancy… If I had, I might not be so anxious now and feel like I’m losing control so close to my due date”.
If you had or are having difficulty relaxing or found a great technique that helped your stress and anxiety during your pregnancy, we’d love to hear from you. Please share your experiences with us so that we can offer Pauline and other ‘stressed’ mums some tips and advice on how to relax during their pregnancy.
