Amy recently found out she was pregnant, which was totally unexpected. She is looking for some advice on changing her lifestyle.
“Hi I’m Amy. I found out last week I am pregnant. I cannot tell you how surprised I was to hear this news. It’s hard for me to believe only 5 weeks ago I was returning home from my honeymoon. You should have seen my poor husband, you would have thought someone ‘hit him with a brick’ when the doctor told us. After it all settled in we realised although unexpected, what a blessing it was and we were overjoyed at the thought of our baby growing inside me. The thing is, I really need to change my lifestyle and quick. My lifestyle in the past and pretty much up until last week was not the healthiest one. I smoke and I do drink a little more than occasionally. I function on very little sleep and my eating habits are atrocious. I haven’t had a glass of wine or anything else since hearing the news, but I am certain I am going to miss it. My doctor recommends I stop smoking, which I am trying to do but is proving difficult. I am so overwhelmed with all the changes I need to make. I am already stressed out and I know that can’t be good for the baby. I really don’t know where to start…I am also feeling a little resentful because I didn’t really want to give up all these things, well not all at once anyway! I really wish I had the time to prepare for this pregnancy, but then again, is anyone really ever prepared for pregnancy? I feel so confused on what changes to make first and could sure use some direction.”
